2010 Scholarship Program
I. PURPOSE
To help make it possible for deserving men and women wishing to further their education, to attend the school or college of their choice, with special emphasis on the legal field (legal support staff personnel, secretarial, law enforcement, court system, criminal justice, paralegal, attorney). Further, to create a public awareness that "PALS" is the local chapter of the State Association known as "VALS", the Virginia Association of Legal Professionals which is the state chapter of the National Association known as "NALS" ( http://www.nals.org/ ). As an association we stand ready to help make it possible for deserving men and women to further their education in the legal field.
II. THE AWARD
A. Basis for Award:
This award will be made based on recognition of achievement or as encouragement, regarding the applicant's scholastic achievement, leadership ability, and financial assistance need.
B. Applicants must:
1. Have demonstrated an active interest in entering the legal field;
2. Have an academic record acceptable to the chosen school or college;
3. Provide satisfactory statement from required references; and,
4. Have a grade point minimum average of a "B", substantiated by grade transcript of school where applicant is currently enrolled.
All information supplied to the PALS Scholarship Chairperson
shall be kept strictly confidential.
